The International Artists in Sweden

The International Artists in Sweden (Internationella konstnärer i Sverige, IKIS) was founded the 30th of April 1 1978 at a conference held at the Nordens Folkliga Akademi.
IKIS participate in the permanent exhibition of immigrated culture workers at the House of Immigrants in Borås as well as in the construction of an artists archive managed by the Immigrant Institute.

providing room at the House of Immigrants for exhibitions of works by immigrated artists.
publishing work of immigrated artists.
participating in cultural programs and in schools.
broadening the possibilities for equal working conditions for all immigrated artists in Sweden.
working for an equal share of the grants for decoration of public places between Swedish and immigrated artists.
within its capacity help the artists with legal aid and insurance advise.
giving advise concerning available scholarship.
working towards a permanent collection of art made by immigrated artists.

working at maintaining a good relationship with the media.
assisting the immigrated artists in their further education.
The International Artists in Sweden should not be seen as a way to isolate the immigrated artists from their Swedish collegues but as a way to increase the relations between immigrants and Swedes within the field of arts as well as in other fields of our society.The International Artists in Sweden welcome all immigrated artists to join and work for common questions and to work for the realization of the objectives above.
The membership fee is 200 sek per year to be paid to plusgiro 431 91 42-8.
