The Immigrant institute is a non-governmental organization whose aim is to be a documentation centre about immigrants, refugees and racism, with an archive, and a library.

The library, build between 1973-2011, comprises ca 12.000 book titles and reports, distributed in several collections: books and documents on migration, a collection of writings by immigrant authors, a collection of journals and magazines and clips från principal periodicals 1974-2011.
The library is for the moment not open to the public.

, The archive contents letters, acta, documents, pictures, clips on immigrant cultural workers, organisations etc.
The archive is deposited at the Riksarkivet in Arninge, Stockholm.

Members of the institute are individuals and associations.
