Author Guidelines
Submission Guidelines
The topic of the papers should have a focus on intercultural communication issues as the central and privileged perspective.
Each manuscript should be accompanied by an abstract of about 100-120 words.
The manuscripts should preferably be in English. It is recommended not to exceed a length of 8000 words, references included.
Contributors should submit their manuscript in electronic form, as an attached document by e-mail or on a computer disk. Word format will be used (no Word Perfect, please).
A short biographical note of the author/s is required as well as a complete address.
All papers received will be submitted to peer review by the board of editors. To keep reviews anonymous, we would like all authors to replace references to their own work in the bibliography and running text by the text ”to be inserted after review”.
Appendices should be kept at a minimum and preferably be short.
Please feel free to send contributions to

In order to facilitate editing, there should be a minimum of enhancements and formatting in the text. This is to avoid mistakes when converting between different programs. We urge you to use the following guidelines.
- An abstract, with the heading “Abstract” should precede the text. Under the Abstract the Key words must be written.
- The first line of each new paragraph should be indented, but NOT with a tab. This should be done automatically in Word in “Paragraph” under “Format”.
- Typeface should be Times New Roman or Times, 14 points. Bold and italics may be used.
- No manual hyphenation
- Indented quotations should be clearly marked (over emphasize if in doubt)
- No headers or footers whatsoever
- Preferably no pagination
- When using different type sizes for headers (i.e., main and subheadings, and possibly subheaders in different levels) this should be VERY clearly marked (over emphasize if in doubt)
- Tables and figures should be placed in the correct position, numbered consecutively and with a header above and possibly a short explanatory text underneath. The “table tools” in the Word program should preferably be used.
- Do not use grey shadings in diagrams and tables. Use only black text. Make sure that the lines of tables and diagrams are not too close to text or margins.
- Save the document in Word or rtf files for Mac and PC
Footnotes
- Use the program’s automatic footnote inserter (in other words do not write them in manually at the end of the document)
Citations
- Use the Harvard model for citations in text, i.e,. author, year, and page in brackets or citation or reference, as below:
… (Johansson 1997:214-124)
No comma after the name, no space or colon.
References
- All references will appear at the end of the article. Please follow the examples below.
